Dr. Tamar Neumann is the founder and former executive director of the Omaha Fringe Festival. She is a teacher, playwright, dramaturg, and theatre critic. Her plays have been produced by Flatlands Dance Theater and the Omaha Fringe Festival. Her dramaturgy credits include production dramaturgy as well as new play development through Wildwind. She has read for and judged numerous playwriting and screenwriting competitions including for the Omaha Film Festival and the Playwright’s Center in Minneapolis. She worked as a theatre critic for The Reader in Omaha and AisleSay Twin Cities in Minneapolis. She has sat on the board of Chameleon Theatre Circle as well as The Omaha Fringe.

She is an instructor of English at Tarrant County College where she teaches composition and developmental writing, and works with the drama department to direct and produce plays. Her research focuses on the intersections of adoption, performance, and culture and interrogates how the performance of adoption highlights the social construction of families. She is the co-editor of Pandemic Motherhood: Exploring the COVID-19 Pandemic through Engaged and Applied Arts and she has published articles on adoption and its representation in theatrical stories.
